Born in Sri Lanka, Balmond pursued his passion for structural mechanics and geometry through engineering studies in Colombo, London, and Southampton. For over 35 years, Balmond served as Deputy Chairman at Arup, where he founded the prestigious Advanced Geometry Group (AGG).
